The objective of our physical education program is to help students understand and appreciate the body’s capacity for movement, as well as the physical, mental, social and emotional outcomes of physical activity that positively contribute to health and well-being. Most PT schools offering physiotherapy graduate degree programs require student applicants to have some first-hand training in this field. The model content standards provide guidance for developing physical education programs by identifying what each student in California should know and be able to do at each grade level. Standard 5: A physically literate individual recognizes the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction. These two schools offer combined bachelor of health science and doctor of physical therapy programs.

This program awards competitive grants to Institutions of Higher Education to support scholars receiving training to provide special education and related services to children and youth with disabilities. The candidate with an Education Specialist Credential must complete 12 upper-division semester units, including coursework in kinesiology and motor development, prior to entering the program.

Requirements vary by state, but typically include graduation from an accredited university, work experience in a school setting and passage of a basic competency exam, as well as a Praxis test specific to physical education. If the schools do not have the funds to hire additional teachers to implement physical activity of 60 minutes per day, a volunteer corps of certified personal trainers needs to be established to institute the physical activity program.physical education
