Secondary education, the second stage traditionally found in formal education , beginning about age 11 to 13 and ending usually at age 15 to 18. The dichotomy between elementary education and secondary education has gradually become less marked, not only in curricula but also in organization. As of October 2004, there has been heated discussion on proposed changes in the education system, which includes (amongst others) reduction of the duration of secondary education from seven years to six years, and merging the two exams HKCEE and HKALE into one exam. Graduates of the B.S. Ed. in secondary education, earth and space science concentration, are eligible to apply for Pa. Instructional I Teaching Certification.
