In s statement issued today, the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), American Federation of Teachers (AFT), and Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) denounce vicious threats of violence and even death directed against faculty members, their families, or their institutions following remarks they have made, or area alleges to have made, in public speeches, on social media, or in the classroom. According to this ordinance, a Turkish citizen who earns a higher education degree outside of Turkey will only be granted degree equivalence if all course content is considered in accordance with both the Turkish constitution and the law no 2547 articles 4 and 5. Under this system a course that simply falls outside the student’s major course of study could be held up for question.
C) As higher educational institutions, to carry out studies and research of high academic level, to promote knowledge and technology, to disseminate scientific findings to assist progress and development at the national level, and, through cooperation with national and international institutions, to become recognized members of the academic world and contribute to universal, contemporary progress.
MSCHE is also recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to accredit degree-granting institutions which offer one or more post-secondary educational programs of at least one academic year in length in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and other geographic areas in which the Commission conducts accrediting activities.
Chart 1 uses the Carnegie 2010 Basic classifications; I divided the higher education landscape into four simple categories; institutions that focus on four-year undergraduate and graduate education; institutions that primarily focuses on associates education; other or specialized institutions; and not applicable (using the exact Carnegie classification).
F) New universities and higher institutes of technology as well as new faculties, graduate schools, and schools of higher education within universities are established by law upon the recommendation or proposal of the Council of Higher Education in accordance with the principles and goals of national development plans and within the context of higher education planning.
