The subjects I teach are largely common law subjects, that is, subjects in which the law is made by courts rather than by legislators. This philosophy of education aims to have a responsible citizen especially in decision making based on learning experiences. They are prepared for life in a global society by understanding themselves and others and by developing meaningful ways to interact with various cultures. Historiography and the scientific method are both examples of philosophy because they are above history and science. The following dimensions collectively make up education: first, normative dimension; second, cognitive dimension.
Our efforts are focused towards creating Malaysian citizen who are knowledgeable and competent, who possess high moral standards, and who are responsible and capable of achieving a high level of personal well-being and able to contribute to the harmony and prosperity of the family, the society and the nation at large. The Progressive philosophy motivates cultural development of an individual in order to bring about societal change, whereas the Humanistic trends look at the overall development of the personality and characteristics of an individual. Most philosophy of teaching statements are brief, one or two pages long at most.
It also allows people to participate in the community, playing their part to improve their conditions and the condition of the society at large. To attempt comprehensive coverage of how philosophers of education have been working within this thicket would be a quixotic task for a large single volume and is out of the question for a solitary encyclopedia entry. If this is allowed to happen, African philosophy of education would have acquired significant potency in its educational quest for justice. But it will be even better if all the above philosophy can be mutually complement.
