Physical education teacher jobs are not necessarily the first position people think of when they think of teaching careers, but for many people it is the ideal way to combine a love of physical sport and a love of teaching into one job. Other majors in the Department of Health and Human Performance leading to a B.S. are Athletic Training ; Exercise Science ; Community and Public Health , which has two concentrations: Public Health and Health Education and Lifetime Wellness; and Leisure, Sport, and Tourism Studies Both a B.S. and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree are available through the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology concentration under the Speech and Theatre major.
They have not endorsed student testing and school ranking as the path to improvement, but rather focused on teacher preparation and retention; collaboration with teachers and their union representatives; early and regular intervention for children with learning disabilities; well-rounded curricula; and equitable funding of schools throughout the country.
The physical education curriculum is designed to allow students to experience at least a minimum exposure to the following categories of activities: aquatics , conditioning activities, gymnastics , individual/dual sports, team sports , rhythms, and dance Students are encouraged to continue to explore those activities in which they have a primary interest by effectively managing their community resources.
Prerequisites: Admission to Teacher Education program; successful completion (with grade of B or better) of YOED 2500, YOED 3000, YOED 3300, YOED 4020,YOED 4030, or YOED 4040; passing score(s) on the specialty area exam(s) of Praxis II; overall grade point average maintained at a minimum of 2.75; grade point average in the major at a minimum of 2.50; and senior standing.
Impacting the process of physical development of a person and optimizing it, – this is what physical education is. And we live in a great time when anything is available for that – numerous sport clubs, tennis courts, swimming pools, dancing classes, various outdoor and adventure activities, shops with sport inventory, sport communities and online groups to find co-thinkers, etc.
