Office of Field Services – The mission of the Office of Field Services (OFS) is to coordinate the Stages of Field Experiences throughout the teacher certification candidate’s undergraduate program, the externship program for students in Communication Sciences & Disorders, and the internship program for students in the Rehabilitative Sciences programs. They collaborate with colleagues from many school and community partnerships to deliver outstanding innovative learning opportunities for you and all of our education students at every level of experience. The Department of Secondary Education and Foundations offers quality programs to prospective and practicing educators for state licenses to teach in the high schools.
The number of pupils in each class in most of the secondary schools is too great. Forms 1 to 3 are known as Lower Secondary (Menengah Rendah), while Forms 4 and 5 are known as Upper Secondary (Menengah Tinggi). In Portuguese, the word for high school used to be liceu, it was now recently replaced for Escola Secundária (secondary school which includes 7th to 9th grade) and covers grades 10th to 12th. Stages are related to school and universe education and sectors are concerned with agricultural, technical and vocational education.
This primary education scheme has also shown a high Gross Enrollment Ratio of 93-95% for the last three years in some states. In New Zealand students attend secondary school from the ages from about 13 to 18. Formerly known as Forms 3 to 7, these grades are now known as Years 9 to 13. Schooling is compulsory until the student’s 16th birthday. The College of Education and Human Development offers a minor in Secondary Education for students from the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Sciences. Beeson Education Scholarships—A number of $1,000 scholarships are available to undergraduate education majors in early childhood education, elementary education, or secondary education due to the generosity of the Orlean Bullard Beeson family. Secondary Education degrees prepare students to teach at the junior and senior high school levels (grades 6-12).
The Universidad Nacional Pedagógica also offer a special three-year non-residential Licenciado degree program for teacher training at secondary level in addition to other teacher training and educational programs. On the other hand, the secondary teaching deals with students who are earning higher education in senior secondary schools or colleges. Good pay and benefits, and are linked to the sequence accession to post-secondary education studies, success, training in the workplace and the use of technology on the job. Little has been done in the matter of guidance services to secondary school pupils.
